Types of jackpot
Progressive network jackpots pool a slice of every bet across all casinos running the game, so Mega Moolah and the Playtech Age of the Gods series reach seven-figure amounts. They are triggered randomly or through a bonus wheel, and the chance rises with the bet size.
Local progressives grow from bets inside one casino and pay smaller amounts more often.
Daily must-drop jackpots from Red Tiger and similar networks are guaranteed to pay before a deadline or before reaching a cap; the Daily Drop pool pays every day by midnight.
Fixed jackpots in Hold and Win slots such as 9 Coins or Sunshine Rich are set multiples of the bet collected during the respin feature; Mini, Minor, Major and Grand are the usual tiers.
- Random trigger: any spin can win, regardless of symbols.
- Bonus trigger: a wheel or pick game awards one of several tiers.
- Symbol trigger: filling the grid or landing a full line in Hold and Win.
What the jackpot does to RTP
A jackpot slot's total RTP includes the jackpot contribution. Mega Moolah returns about 88 percent in the base game and a further 4 to 5 percent through the progressive, so a player who never hits the jackpot experiences a game well below the 96 percent of a standard slot. Fixed Hold and Win jackpots are paid often enough that the base-game RTP stays near normal. Put simply: a progressive is a lottery ticket attached to a weaker slot; a fixed jackpot is part of an ordinary slot's maths.
Approaching jackpot games
- Check whether the jackpot requires the maximum bet or a side bet; many do not.
- Compare the current pool with its average win amount shown in the lobby; pools well above average are marginally better value.
- Use a must-drop jackpot close to its deadline or cap, when the pool must pay soon.
- Budget jackpot play separately from regular slot play and keep it small.
Jackpot wins are paid in full to the balance; the operator pays network jackpots through the provider, which can take a few days for the largest amounts after a verification check.
Jackpots and bonus terms
One more thing before playing with bonus funds: most jackpot slots are excluded from wagering or capped, and the list is on the bonus page. Volatility and bet sizing work the same here as on any slot, so the slots guide applies in full; the lobby overview shows where the jackpot tab sits.

Common questions
Do I need to bet the maximum to win a progressive?
Rarely. Most modern jackpots can be won at any bet, but the chance scales with stake. The game rules state the requirement.
How are large jackpots paid?
To the account balance after the provider confirms the win; very large network jackpots can take a few days.
Is a jackpot slot a good everyday slot?
Progressive jackpot slots have a lower base RTP. Fixed-jackpot Hold and Win slots play like ordinary slots.
Can I win a jackpot in demo mode?
Demo play is excluded from jackpot pools.
